Tips for Sending Season’s Greetings

Emily Kane

Every year, the holidays seem to creep up faster and faster. Stores have begun their Christmas displays before Halloween has ended. Time is running out, but it’s not too late to send your clients and customers a holiday greeting.

Sending a greeting is an easy way to show you care about your customers and clients and thank them for their continued business throughout the year. An annual holiday card can be easy and impactful if you keep a few things in mind:

Don’t delay! When the first signs of the holidays start to appear in stores, it’s a perfect reminder to get started on your holiday cards. Schedules get busy as the holidays creep up and if you wait until the last minute, chances are you might just say, forget it! Get a head start on next year and add a reminder to your calendar in September – the sooner the better! Keep in mind that it will take additional time to print, address, stamp and mail the cards, so the more time you allow yourself, the easier it will be.

Keep it simple and remain neutral. Especially in a business setting, it’s important to be mindful of all the holidays that are celebrated throughout the season. Stick with neutral greetings about the season and it’ll ensure you avoid any holiday card faux pas. A brief and simple handwritten message will personalize your cards and show that you really care.

Print is best! And that’s not just because we are in the business. E-cards easily get lost, sent to spam folders and accidently get deleted. You’re printed greeting will reach a larger audience and will most likely get displayed in your client’s office throughout the season. Not to mention it’s fun to receive an old fashioned card in the mail when we are constantly bombarded digitally!

Think outside the Christmas box! There ARE other holidays on the calendar that provide great opportunities to reach out to clients. Stand out from the crowd by surprising your clients and customers on a less-common occasion. Beat the rush and thank them for their business with a Thanksgiving greeting. Be fresh in their minds in the coming year by sending a New Year’s card. Or show them some love on Valentine’s day! Your card will arrive after all the others have been thrown away!

Holiday cards are the perfect way to say thank you and remind your clients that you appreciate their business. It’s also the perfect way to reinforce your brand and generate repeat business.
